Achille Salvagni

Bubbles was conceived as a tribute to the work of contemporary artist Jeff Koons, utilising his pop-art aesthetic and embodying a number of references within the work itself. The characteristic polished finish found on Koons’ balloon sculptures is referenced through the shiny brass orb, whilst the gilded bronze and title of the work pays homage to one of Koons most iconic and controversial sculptures, Michael Jackson and Bubbles as Madonna and child. The sculpture also acts as a study of balance and imbalance, asking the viewer to confront the fragile state of the composition.
