Ink on paper

Known largely for his thickly painted, impressionist oils of still lives and landscapes from the 1930s, André Dunoyer de Segonzac was awarded the prize for painting at the Venice Biennale, 1934, and is found in major collections such as the Courtauld and the Tate. However, this life study of a nude in ink is spontaneous in style and betrays a lightness of touch.

Signed ‘A. Dunoyer de Segonzac’ lower left, inscribed '1383' and 'UH' lower right in another hand.
