The curule seat is associated with both ancient Roman and Napoleonic empires, a portable, often foldable, seat symbolizing political or military power. This sculptural, art deco version of the classical stool is loosely based on a design by Jules Leleu, its undulating seat supported on four legs rising from a rectangular base.
