After working under Maurice Dufrène at the Galeries Lafayette, Jacques Adnet became artistic director and main designer of the Compagnie des Arts Français (C.A.F.) in 1928, a position he held until 1959.  As a young and innovative designer, Adnet changed the artistic line of this traditional cabinetmaker which until then had been focused on ornamentation, refining the lines a as well as the uses of metal and glass in his designs.
