Ayala Serfaty
Medium: Glass rods, polymer membrane, mixed media
Dimensions: 68 in high
Ayala Serfaty makes her ethereal, sculptural light fixtures by applying a diaphanous membrane over unique structural webs of thin, glass rods. As inspiration for these sculptures the Israeli artist looks to natural forms—crystals, Japanese gardens, and coral on the seabed floor. With Chaga, she has created a remarkable, bifurcated floor lamp featuring a pair of such compositions, like surreal, glowing flowers opening atop a shared plant stem.
