Brouard’s work confirmed his versatility as a sculptor with his diverse use of materials and variances in scale (from the most delicate of jewelry to large, elegant furnishings); but, he was also a master of juxtaposition, evoking (often with the same piece) both the impermanence and motion of nature and the industrial, urban world which was accelerating rapidly around him.

This extraordinary, biomorphic table, which manages to capture the motion of waves dashing about rocks, as well as their personification as the sea nymphs from which the table takes its name, is no exception, cast as it is in beautifully industrial, patinated bronze, and topped with a broad, gently curving rectangular glass top.
