Fred Brouard

Drôle d’oiseau, Table-top Sculpture

France, 1992

FB 10

Description

Medium: Exotic fruit and bronze

Dimensions: 10 in high x 11 in wide x 5.5 in deep

An unique piece composed of bronze and fruit wood parts that move on a hinge, evincing the flight of a bird.

Brouard’s work confirmed his versatility as a sculptor with his diverse use of materials and variances in scale (from the most delicate of jewelry to large, elegant furnishings); but, he was also a master of juxtaposition, evoking (often with the same piece) both the impermanence and motion of nature and the industrial, urban world which was accelerating rapidly around him.
