Fred Brouard

Oiseau Hélicoptère, Table-top Sculpture

France, 1990

FB 11

Description

Medium: Bronze, walnut

Dimensions: 9.5 in high x 8.5 in wide x 5.25 in deep

Unique piece.

Composed of walnut, this piece is an arrangement of walnut parts that move on a set of bronze hinges, the effect of which is that of a bird in flight.

Brouard’s work confirmed his versatility as a sculptor with his diverse use of materials and variances in scale (from the most delicate of jewelry to large, elegant furnishings); but, he was also a master of juxtaposition, evoking (often with the same piece) both the impermanence and motion of nature and the industrial, urban world which was accelerating rapidly around him.
