Guy Bareff's work over the last decade represents a renewed exploration of the visual vocabulary that characterized his powerful œuvre in the 1970’s. His new pieces recall the iconic style of that period, yet are distinct, informed as they are by their contemporary context. In them can be seen his interest in architecture, as well as in clay—a material chosen for its warmth of color and the tactility. In much of his work he has abandoned glazes entirely, allowing the full effect of a piece to be expressed through the combined qualities of this single material, and the central dialogue to remain the dynamic interplay of light on forms in space—either cast on the objects from without or placed within the sculptures by the artist himself.

Guy Bareff's illuminated tables can be produced in two tiers, three tiers, and four tiers. Two or three individual pieces can also be stacked together to form a column. Available in terracotta, Chamotté stoneware, or black enameled metal. Dimensions vary slightly from piece to piece as each is handmade.
