Louis Cane's omnivorous, trailblazing spirit (that which made of him a sculptor as well as a groundbreaking painter) led him, at last, to design. In fact, over the last quarter of a century, the creation of furniture has become the central part of Cane's artistic practice. Nevertheless, his work, as it has evolved, whether in painting, sculpture, or design, can be seen as an attempt to further diminish the already blurred lines between disciplines.

Louis Cane marvels, in particular, over furniture sprung from the 18th Century, "when cabinetmakers and sculptors created works that were both beautiful and easy to live with.” This influence is nowhere more apparent than in this playful, useful, and above all, beautiful chandelier.
