At the time of Ange Desintegre’s conception Marino di Teana had just relocated from Buenos Aires to France, and undergone the first of his two great artistic revelations. Inspired by new encounters with European architecture, di Teana had decided to rededicate his artist efforts to sculpture. Inklings of his second artistic revelation—that negative space is at least as important to sculpture as are its physical components—are here visible in its naissance.
