Sculpted from walnut, Gallaxy II, an exceptional wall-mounted sculpture, exhibits the skill of Massachusetts artist and master woodworker Michael Coffey, and is yet another extraordinary variation on the “geolithic carving” Coffey debuted in 1972 at Directional Furniture in New York, and revived 90s with a proliferation of cabinets. The style was inspired by the action of water on rock over billions of years, something Coffey first noticed in the riverbeds of southern Vermont.
