Press Release

The Italian Cultural Institute of New York, together with Maison Gerard, is pleased to present the exhibition Antonio Pio Saracino: New Designs and Creations featuring the latest works by the celebrated Italian architect and designer. It will be his second solo show in NYC. The presentation includes large-scale furniture made in marble and wood as well as hand-blown Murano glass works, which together create an immersive, interdisciplinary and multi-sensory experience.

Antonio Pio Saracino works internationally and several of his furniture designs are in the permanent collections of museums including Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Museum of Art and Design in New York. This exhibition will present a curated selection of Saracino’s most innovative creations, highlighting excellence in Italian craftsmanship and the latest technologies from his trusted sources.

Working with OroVetro in Murano, Venice Saracino has created several hand blown colorful vessels and chandeliers; each of these works showcase the timeless beauty and traditional craftsmanship of Murano glass. There will also be special designs sculpted from Italian marble including a fireplace, and a sink inspired by seashells on view. All of these sculptural wonders were made by FMG Shapes for Saracino. Collaborating with Laboratorio Italiano and Materica, Saracino is able to push the boundaries of woodwork by incorporating the latest in digital technology and expert craftsmanship. A selection of beautifully finished and unique creations from desks to wardrobes to  counters will reveal the intricate combination of wood and metal finishes.

The opening party for the exhibition Antonio Pio Saracino: New Designs and Creations will take place on Friday, November 8th at 6pm. The works will be on display through November 16, 2024. The Italian Cultural Institute is located at 686 Park Avenue, NYC.
