Maison Gerard will debut Fernando Mastrangelo's latest series of sculptural furniture, Escape. With Escape, Mastrangelo furthers his signature technique – an ongoing experimentation with, and recasting of, unexpected materials.
The work evokes an abstract landscape effect, recalling vibrant, ephemeral gradients and compositions of natural elements. Fusing reductive forms with an expressive combination of materials, the simple, geometric pieces are composed of hand-dyed sand, powdered glass, and silica. The various materials are expertly cast in layers to produce a stratified gradient of tones and textures with a painterly quality.
The exhibition will open April 13th with a reception from 6-8 pm and remain on view through May 5th.
