English, 19th century

In oak, glass & brass

CAB 62

Description

Oak, glass, brass

Height: 69" - Width: 103" - Depth: 19"

In 19th Century Neoclassical style this large, contemporary bookcase is topped with Corinthian capitals. Six glass doors open to reveal shelves above and below. This piece is from Thierry W. Despont's architectural studio, in TriBeCa, New York City. Despont was an avid, omnivorous, and—above all—imaginative collector. Throughout his life, he acquired furniture and objects from very different periods and in a broad array of styles, relishing the unexpected dialogues juxtaposing works and complementary pieces made among themselves.
