Jacques Adnet
Medium: Composed of 22 gilt carved wood sunbeams around a small original mirror
Dimensions:79.5 in high x 66 in wide
This monumental mirror by Adnet, created for the Palais des Consuls in Rouen, conjures images of a radiant sun in the viewer's imagination. The narrow mirrored glass, coupled with the bright, overwhelming rays, mimic the sun's light to the naked eye. Featuring layers of meticulously carved giltwood, the rays on the frame are a triumph of late Art Deco design.
