Daum
Medium: Acid-etched glass
Dimensions: 16.5 in high x 5.75 in diameter
Signed: Daum Nancy France with the Croix de Lorraine
The process used on this particular vase is acid etching, involving the dissolution of silica into an acidic mixture, and the application of this mixture to this glass after blowing and cooling. The technique was typical of Daum, in the attempt to achieve a design which would be translucent but also discernible against the untouched glass.
