Di Teana, whose own Italian childhood was given over to dreams of Mathematics, Philosophy, and Art, and the great men associated with them, dedicated this sculpture to the renowned Venetian mathematician and engineer Nicolò Fontana Tartaglia, a predecessor of Galileo. The piece, a monumental structure in corten, has both the vertical architectural elements of so many of di Teana’s sculptures, as well as the more geometric ones Tartaglia—who's translation of Euclid was widely acclaimed—might have appreciated.
