A breathtaking view of a vast, Alpine mountainscape, this eight-panel screen shimmers with layers of delicately hued, precious metals gilded on the reverse side of the towering glass. Perception, scale, depth, and surface are each called into question. Textures and details appear to float, flutter, and coalesce in turn. As the scene recedes the palette cools, enhancing the sense of unfolding majesty. The viewer peers at once into, and through, the epic scene while also confronting him- or herself in luminous, abstracted reflection.
