Description

Glazed stoneware.

Height: 12.5" - Diameter: 8"

Signed "Doris", the alias that René Buthaud created for the American market which took inspiration from Douris, the ancient Greek ceramist whom Buthaud admired.  At the suggestion of Mr. Salmicouri, Buthaud created designs for the American market under contract to Rouard Gallery from 1934, the collaboration ending in 1940 with the Second World War.
