Modern and Maison Gerard Toast the Winter Issue and Mat Driscoll

On Tuesday, November 15th, Maison Gerard and Modern will toast Mat Driscoll, who will be featured in the winter issue of the magazine. The master furniture maker will introduce several new pieces at the event, including Nocturne, a sleek cabinet finished in a lush oxblood matte lacquer, the Academy Side Chair, a slim, elegant piece crafted of black walnut, and West, a series of tripodal side tables with perfectly proportioned hexagonal tops.

As Anna Fixson says in the winter issue, Driscoll is an artist who “favors utility, craft, and crisp geometries over faddish silhouettes and materials,” and who has “honed an aesthetic that is at once muscular and refined.” His woodworking company Bellboy, is a place where “time-honored approaches to woodworking reign supreme.”
